Our Services

The doctors and staff of Hendricks County Animal Hospital want to provide you with the best veterinary care, facility, medicine, surgery and diagnostic tools available.  We would honor the opportunity to serve you and your pet. Below is a brief description of some of the services we provide to our community.

  • 24-Hour Emergency Services

No one can predict when an emergency situation wil arise.  It is good to know where you can turn when one happens. Our facility offers 24-Hour emergency service after office hours. For an additional fee, the veterinarian will meet you at either our location or your farm, if it's a large animal emergency situation.  We hope that this would never happen, but if it indeed does, we are here to help you.

  • Medical Services/Treatment

Whether your pet requires a short stay or extensive, we are able to provide the highest level of quality medicine for whatever the reason needed.

  • Preventative HealthCare

Comprehensive physical examinations done on an annual basis are vital to every pet's health.  This is the best time for the veterinarian and client to discuss issues that may have risen from the previous year in the pet's life.  Annual vaccines and preventative testing, such as intestinal parasite exams and heartworm tests, are the basic care regimen needed for small animals. Equines and exotics also have annual vaccinations, tests and procedures that help them live happier and healthier lives.

  • Surgery

Every surgical patient is very special to us and needs excellent care. No matter the surgery being performed, be it elective or emergency, we treat all patients with the same care. Our facility is used as a referral office for extensive surgeries, as well as the much-needed spay, neuter or declaw. Inhalant and injectable anesthesia is offered, along with pre-surgical blood screening.  For a complete list of surgeries performed at our facility, see the list at the lower portion of the page.

  • Equine Services

One aspect that we are known for is our work with equines.  Whether it be a simple out call for annual vaccines, teeth floating, or sheath clean, or even as major as embryo transfer, radiography, or teeth power planing, we are easily able to accomodate. We are an active member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners and attend their annual conferences. Our facility is able to provide care, pre and post-operatively, for expectant mothers and newborn foals.

  • Radiography

Our facility is equipped with exclusive veterinary software that allows for digital images to be uploaded to your pet's chart and even to be e-mailed to your home. We are very proud of the equipment we are able to offer to our clients. It allows for clearer, more diagnostic images of your pet, which results in more accurate interpretations. Our radiography machine is capable of producing images on birds, small pocket pets, cats, dogs, horses, and cattle, and many more species.

  • Ultrasound

We currently provide ultrasound diagnostics on our veterinarian's farm to our equine clients, as well as ultrasound in-house for smaller animals. An especially popular use for ultrasound is pregnancy checks for equine and canines. We also utilize ultrasound for diagnostics when radiography is not appropriate.

  • Electrocardiography

EKGs are performed in-house at our facilitiy and interpretation is provided by Purdue Small Animal Hospital when needed. The procedure is quick and your pet's results are generally received within 48 hours.

  • Laser Surgery

Worried about pain management with your pet? One way to minimize the pain incurred with surgery, is your option to choose laser surgery for your pet.  For an additional fee, we utilize our laser instead of scapel blade. The difference is amazing. The laser promotes quicker healing time by cauterizing the blood vessels and lessening pain in nerve endings. Testimonies by clients have been very positive. Most clients cannot believe how well their pet has recuperated post-operatively.  Most choose to use our laser equipment for feline declaws, tumor removals, dental hyperplasia and lick granulomas. However, the laser is available for any surgical procedure.

  • In-House Laboratory

It is very important to have diagnostic tools available at any time. Our facility enables us to perform blood serum panels, complete blood counts, pre-anesthetic workups, urine screening, intestinal parasites exams and skin evaluations.

  • Dental care

Dental care is a vital part of every pet's health.  Dental disease can lead to problems with the heart, liver, kidneys, animal's eating ability, breath, loss of teeth and even shorten your pet's life.  We encourage annual dental cleanings, along with fluoride treatment and an annual dental vaccine.  We have an exclusive dental team that performs dental cleanings on certain days of the week.

  • Boarding Accomodations

For over 20 years, we have been committed to providing a safe & clean facility, along with friendly & knowledgeable kennel staff for your pet's visit. We can accomodate almost every species, within state regulations and clinic policies.  We provide comfortable bedding, bowls and litter boxes, leaving no work for you. You simply provide the food, or we will at an additional cost. We hand-walk our boarders and they are given their own special place to rest. Of course, family members can stay together, if requested by owner and is safe for the pets.

  • Other special services provided

There are many more services we can provide such as:

In-House pharmacy; retail area for food, flea & tick preventatives and heartworm preventatives; a drop-off service for early morning; a licensed, professional groomer, who is available by appointment; euthanasia and cremation services; microchipping and identification scanner; endoscopy; reproductive services--large and small animal; surgery unit; ICU unit; exotic animal unit; large animal unit; multiple examination rooms; and of course, well-educated doctors and staff.
